Artist Statement 2022
The focus of my work has always been aligned with two things: my affinity for history and interest in the sciences. I trust both to inform me with the data I need to translate the world in which I find myself as a living and adapting human being. As an artist, I still get genuinely excited by geographies, botanicals, anatomy and psychology, and enjoy interpretatng that into artwork.
Recognizing the beauty in other cultures, and life forces is most intriguing, and my preferred media for documenting and translating my discoveries evolves.
I find beauty in the large-ness of universal behaviors and subjects (like human anatomy, procreation and adaptation), as well as the tiniest details of neurons, synapses, seeds and eyes. Invisible subjects and theories are particularly appealing because they nudge my imagination to interpret what is not plainly seen. So large a planet, so little time!
